They are in the process of zealously and gleefully destroying Tiger Woods. By “they” I mean the cackling media, gluttons for the salacious, and all of the righteous, self-proclaimed moral authorities.
Tiger Woods, quite possibly driving from his house upset or angry, hit a neighbors tree. That’s it. It’s unfortunate from the standpoint of minor damage and minor injuries but no more remarkable than the thousands of minor single vehicle accidents that happen every day.
But the salivating had begun.
The late hour of the accident, Tiger’s pristine fame, and whispered rumors of affairs amounted to blood in the water for sharks greedy for a shot at shredding such an icon.
There was no room for facts in the hysterical implications of drug use, spousal abuse, and the baseless opining on how quickly Tiger would lose his major endorsement contracts. Positively giddy were all the righteous casting their stones.
The Florida Highway Patrol had to convene a press conference in an attempt to calm the clamoring. They announced what any reasonably sane person could have surmised. Tiger Woods accidentally hit a tree. He was issued a citation for careless driving; a traffic ticket carrying a $162 fine. A frenzied press conference …for a traffic ticket.
But the salivating was in full swing.
With all the forces at work now, including an “other woman” who I just bet has come up with a dollar figure for her silence, Tiger issued a frank and honest public statement about personal transgressions. Right here; right here was our moment. The opportunity for decent folk to back out of this, recognizing it as a PRIVATE matter.
But the salivating swiftly shifted to snarling drool.
They had a couple of claws in, they were not about to leave without devouring. They no longer needed there to be “something more to the accident”. They had the pinnacle in destruction tools – Sex, especially the extramarital variety.
We as a society have really forgotten that we are indeed still creatures of our biological makeup. In the midst of shocked gasps I say, that the act of sex, even with many different people, is not the mark of an evil man. In fact, the reality is that the pursuit of sexual encounters is probably the most natural thing humans do. It does not make him evil, it does not make him a lesser man, it does not make him less deserving. It makes him a man with a private issue to work out with his wife.
It is our culture that crafts an odd language and stigma around this. As a result, we make some pretty shocking judgments based on one’s sexual behavior. Tiger Woods does not deserve to be destroyed because of sexual liaisons outside of his marriage. As a matter of fact, (and I might have mentioned this) it is NONE OF OUR DAMN BUSINESS.

Amen! And that’s the truth.
Buffalo!!!!! Thanks so much for chiming in and it’s WONDERFUL to see you
Yeah, Yeah, but the jokes are pretty good, So, thank you , Tiger.
I will agree, though, it is none of our business. However, it is not the “sex” part. It is the deception and lying and infedility. Those are the elements of the story and character. These are choices Tiger Woods made. The media feeds off it. Well, that’s life. He should know that by now and frankly, he does not care. So, if you are going to wag your finger..wag it at Tiger.
Well, we can wag our finger at Tiger for playing the ladies a bit. But see, here is my thinking — we only have happen to us that which we allow. Women threw themselves at Tiger and Tiger loves sex so Tiger had lots of sex. And his wife? Is that who I am supposed to believe is the victim? Bleh, that woman quite literally had her money contractually lined up for when this happened. She is a business woman, and this is pay day for her. So..no, I don’t feel too bad for her. Now the other women. Some of them might be hurt, but really, someone will have to explain to me the logic behind expecting fidelity from the married man you are sleeping with. It’s also big party time, balloon celebration pay day for them and they are all lined up for their piece of the pie. So….when I see the pool of THESE players, Tiger isn’t exactly the first one I am wagging my finger at.
So, they all deserve each other and we should all enjoy a Merry Christmas….. Merry Christmas Ms. Donovan.
And a very Merry Christmas to you as well dear Sir.
Uhm.. It is a humiliation what has happened to Tiger but you nonetheless have to admire him as a sports man. Just because he is a celebrated competitor doesn’t mean you have to be partial to him as a human being! There are tons of folks who I respect for their work but wouldn’t want to meet them!
Hockey, I just wanted to let you know that I received your last message. I decided to put a response here; I tried to email you…
I hope things ease up a bit at work, that sounds a tad extreme. Glad to know you are well. It was nice to hear from you and I hope to see you drop by here again soon.
